Therapeutic Action
Combination of two local anaesthetics of the amide type
Indications
Topical anaesthesia of the skin prior to:
- planned needle insertion (e.g. intravenous catheters, blood sampling, lumbar puncture)
- planned superficial surgical procedures (e.g. localised injuries)
Instructions for use
5 gr tube for single-patient use.
Apply the required amount of cream to intact skin at least 1 hour before the planned injection or procedure. Cover with an occlusive dressing and allow adequate time for the anaesthetic effect to develop.
1 gr of cream is approximatively equivalent to 3.5 cm of cream.
For unplanned superficial surgical procedures, 1% LIDOCAINE, ampoule (DINJLIDO1A1) may be used subcutaneously as an alternative for local anaesthesia.
Precautions for Use
Contraindicated in preterm infants.
Do not apply to broken, irritated skin, or open wounds.
Do not apply to large areas of the body.
Caution! Use the recommended dose for the prescribed duration to avoid overdose. An overdose of prilocaine/lidocaine can lead to methaemoglobinaemia, which impairs the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen. Symptoms may include headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, nausea, poor coordination, and cyanosis.
Storage
- Below 25ºC - Protect from sunlight
- Do not refrigerate.
- Tightly close the tube after each use to prevent contamination.
