Specifications
The Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) triage kit contains all the essential materials needed for the triage of injured individuals and the organisation of triage teams of any type of incident involving an influx of victims that exceeds the immediate response capacity of existing medical infrastructure.
The kit is supplied in a red backpack identified as "MCI Triage".
Two optional modules can also be added to the backpack, making the kit easy to transport and suitable for use:
- at the scene of the incident
- at an advanced medical post
- at the entrance of a hospital
Components
The kit is composed of:
- a red backpack (KMEDMMCI41-) containing:
- triage tags in the five triage colours (red, yellow, green, grey and blue), instructions folding and plastic bags for the tags, safety jackets in the five triage colours to identify staff members according to their role
- 2 small bags (KMEDMMCI411 & KMEDMMCI412) containing:
- more triage tags
- triage algorithms according to the five triage colours
- paediatric tapes, etc.
- guidelines, action cards, and protocols detailing how to use the kit
The optional modules must be ordered separately:
- KMEDMMCI42-: a small identification module containing signalisation tapes, and directional arrows to guide patents to designated areas
- KMEDMMCI43-: a small module with basic materiel for the initial treatment of casualties, including safety blankets, compressive bandages, examination gloves for staff, scissors for cutting clothes of the victims etc.
The triage tags (contained in the KMEDMMCI41-) are identified as choice. It is mandatory to order one of the four proposed choices: either in English, Arabic, French, or Spanish.
The triage algorithms (contained in the KMEDMMCI411) are identified as choice. It is mandatory to order one of the two proposed choices: either in English/Arabic, or French.
