Instructions for use
This reagent is used to identify M. tuberculosis complex (MTBc). The principle is that MTBc is inhibited by ρ-Nitrobenzoic acid (PNB), whereas non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are resistant. Primary identification is done by the comparison of growth among the two media.
PNB is added to Middlebrook 7H11 or Lowenstein-Jensen during medium preparation. Follow Standard Operational Procedures for stock solution preparation and plates/tubes preparation.
Storage
- At room temperature
- Keep tightly closed
- 4- nitrobenzoic acid solution should be used immediately, or stored in the refrigerator.
